Florence Impens, 2014-2015 Keough-Naughton Institute National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow presents “The Answering Voice: Classical Intertextuality in Contemporary Irish Poetry” on Friday, April 24th at 3:30 PM in 424 Flanner Hall.
Her work will be reviewed by two scholars who will each present a topical lecture during the seminar: Vona Groarke, University of Manchester and James I. Porter, University of California, Irvine. Isabelle Torrance, University of Notre Dame, will moderate the seminar.
Florence Impens received her Ph.D. in English from Trinity College, Dublin in 2013. During her fellowship she prepared a book length study of classical reception in contemporary Irish poetry. Impens intends to create “an overview of the recent and contemporary classical presence in Anglophone Irish poetry in the second half of the twentieth century.”
