America's Exiled Children: America and the Easter Rising (Oxford Univesity Press, 2016) by Robert Schmuhl, the Walter H. Annenberg-Edmund P. Joyce Chair in American Studies and Journalism, which sheds new light on the American connections to this key moment in Irish history [see this summary, with accompanying press and reviews]; and
The 1916 Irish Rebellion (University of Notre Dame Press, 2016) by Bríona Nic Dhiarmada, the Thomas J. & Kathleen M. O'Donnell Professor of Irish Studies and Concurrent Professor of Film, Television, and Theatre at the University of Notre Dame, which is the companion book to the documentary 1916 The Irish Rebellion, narrated by Liam Neeson and produced by the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies.
