Stephen O'Neill on "Partition and the End of Memory"

How has the partition of Ireland been represented in literature and culture since the 1990s? Drawing upon newspapers, novels, and the political rhetoric surrounding the "peace process," Stephen O'Neill (PhD, Trinity College Dublin), the Keough-Naughton Institute's National Endowment for the Humanities-Keough Fellow in the 2019-2020 academic year, will examine how Ireland's division was framed as a bitter—even an unhelpful—memory in the context of the moves towards peace.
