Historical Theologian Kenneth Parker: "Hunting the Lion of Saint Louis: Archbishop Peter Kenrick and His Submission to the First Vatican Council"

Prof. Kenneth Parker will deliver a lunchtime lecture on Dublin-born Archbishop Peter Kenrick of St. Louis, the first Catholic archbishop west of the Mississippi, and his complicated relationship to the First Vatican Council of 1869-70. Sandwiches will be provided.

Prof. Parker is Ryan Endowed Chair for Newman Studies and department chair of Catholic Studies at Duquesne University. His research interests include John Henry Newman, Irish Catholicism and its impact on the American Church, and Christian historiography.
