The Seamus Heaney Memorial Lecture is a signature event in the Keough-Naughton Institute's year. Seamus Heaney spoke twice on Notre Dame's campus, and this annual event honors his memory and his outstanding contributions to Irish and world literature.

The first Seamus Heaney Memorial Lecture was held in 2014 and featured Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill and John Kelly. In subsequent years, the lecture has been given by Christopher Morash, Declan Kiberd, Ronan McDonald, Eve Patten, and Rosie Lavan.
