The Snite Museum of Art features artist Diana Copperwhite (Irish, b. 1969) for a gallery talk about her painting Inner Garden State, on view in the exhibition Who Do We Say We Are? Irish Art 1922 | 2022. Copperwhite is one of Ireland’s preeminent painters. Her large, vividly-colored canvases navigate boundaries between abstraction and figuration.

Elected in 2021 to Aosdána, Ireland’s distinguished society of artists, Copperwhite is also a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Josef Albers Foundation in Connecticut and, in 2007, won the AIB Art Prize. Her work is in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Ireland, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Hugh Lane Gallery, the Mark Rothko Center (Latvia), Mariehamns Stadsbibliotek (Finland), and the International Red Cross (Netherlands), among others.

Inner Garden State is generously on loan to the Snite Museum of Art from the O’Brien Collection (Chicago). Read more about the painting, and explore music curated to amplify its themes at this entry on the Keough-Naughton Institute's webpage; "Irish Art . . . Amplified."
