Tara McCarthy will deliver the 2019 Hibernian Lecture, "A Century of Suffrage: Catholic Activism, Class Consciousness, and the Contributions of Irish American Women." 

McCarthy is associate professor of history at Central Michigan University and author of Respectability and Reform: Irish American Women's Activism, 1880–1920 (Syracuse University Press, 2018).

The 2019 Hibernian Lecture is sponsored by the Cushwa Center for American Catholicism, with the Keough Naughton Institute for Irish Studies and the Rooney Center for the Study of American Democracy at Notre Dame as co-sponsors.
