Student Spotlight: Ailbhe Darcy, Ph.D. 2015

Ailbhe Darcy, of the Department of English and the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies, received her doctorate in May 2015 with an accompanying minor in Irish Studies.


 At Commencement, she was the winner of the Graduate School’s 2015 Eli J. and Helen Shaheen Award in the Humanities.

The citation for her Shaheen Award, the highest honor bestowed on a Notre Dame graduate student, honored Ailbhe for her extraordinary success both as a poet and as a literary critic.

Report from the IRISH SEMINAR 2015: “I will never look at Irish Studies—or the world—the same way again.”

 The Keough-Naughton's annual IRISH seminar met this summer in Buenos Aires, with the theme:  Peripheral  Modernities? Ireland, Argentina, Latin America.

Christopher Fox, director of the Keough-Naughton Institute and a participant in the Seminar, reported that it was " a smashing success," particularly in regard to students' new outlook on Irish Studies — and the world.
