Professor of English Susan Harris’ article “Mobilizing Maurya: J.M. Synge, Bertolt Brecht, and the Revolutionary Mother” was awarded honorable mention by Modern Drama prize committee.  Modern Drama, founded in 1958, is the most prominent journal in English to focus on dramatic literature.

Sara Maurer, Professor of English and Patrick Griffin, Chair and Professor of History, were recipients of the 2014 Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.  The awards, presented by the Office of the Provost, are selected through a process that includes peer and student nominations.  The award “honors faculty members who have had a profound influence on undergraduate students through sustained exemplary teaching at Notre Dame.”
