Daniel Carey

Daniel Carey is Established Professor of English at the University of Galway. He was Director of the Moore Institute from 2014-23. He is author of Locke, Shaftesbury, and Hutcheson: Contesting Diversity in the Enlightenment and Beyond, and editor of The Postcolonial Enlightenment, Asian Travel in the Renaissance, and other books. He is Secretary of the Royal Irish Academy and was Chair of the Irish Research Council (2022-2024).

Daniel Carey is a visiting fellow at the Keough-Naughton Institute for the spring 2025 semester.
