Graduate Program

Student in Class

More than thirty graduate students in several departments—including Anthropology, English, History, Political Science, and Theology—are affiliated with the Keough-Naughton Institute. They come to Notre Dame to study with our world-class faculty and to use resources in the Hesburgh Libraries' outstanding Irish Studies collection.

Engage with speakers

The Institute's Speakers and Public Talks Series is designed to broaden and enrich graduate students' individual programs. The Series is a hallmark of the Keough-Naughton Institute and builds a strong interdisciplinary community among students and between students and faculty.

Graduate Minor

Many graduate students choose to earn a graduate minor in Irish Studies. The Institute offers its graduate minors generous support for research, travel, and attendance at conferences in the United States and abroad.

Summer IRISH Seminar

Since 1999, the Institute has sponsored the summer IRISH graduate seminar that brings together Irish studies scholars, graduate students, writers, and artists. An intense intellectual exchange, the seminar has been a formative experience for scores of Notre Dame graduate students and their peers from universities around the world. Seminar locations have included Dublin, the Notre Dame Global Centre at Kylemore Abbey on Ireland's west coast, Paris, Rome, Buenos Aires, and Oxford.
